San José City College Clinches Coast South Title with 87-38 Rout of Hartnell
SAN JOSE — San José City College clinched the Coast Conference South Division championship Friday night, overwhelming visiting Hartnell College 87-38 in a dominant performance that was never in doubt.
The Jaguars led 41-22 at halftime and pulled away decisively in the second half, outscoring the Panthers 46-16 to secure the CCCAA Coast South title.
Taj Royster led San José with 19 points, going 9-of-11 from the field and adding six rebounds and three assists off the bench. Savion Daniels added 22 points on 4-of-8 shooting, while Jaden Sweeney chipped in 18 points.
Dylan Galvan stuffed the stat sheet for the Jaguars, finishing with 12 points, eight rebounds and 10 assists — a near triple-double that helped San José dictate the tempo throughout. Jeremiah Butler contributed eight points and three assists to go along with solid floor play.
San José shot 63 percent from the field (34-of-54) and finished 14-of-18 from the free-throw line. The Jaguars also connected on 5-of-13 attempts from three-point range.
Muhammad Singleton added 11 points off the bench as San José received contributions up and down its roster. Ryan Baker chipped in 10 points on 3-of-4 shooting, including 2-of-3 from beyond the arc.
Hartnell managed just 38 points on the night, struggling to generate any consistent offense against a stifling San José defense.
