West Valley captures 35th Coast Conference tournament title; All-Coast Conference awards announced
West Valley College dominated its competition, closing out an undefeated Coast Conference schedule and championship tournament to earn its 35th straight Coast Conference men's water polo title.
The Vikings went 7-0 in Coast Conference games and outscored its three opponents in the Coast Conference Championship tournament by a combined 78-17 margin.
Cabrillo College finished in second place after reaching the Coast Conference Championship final and qualified for the Northern California Championships.
West Valley went on to capture a Northern California Regional championship, after beating Modesto 24-6 in the semifinals and edging American River 10-8 in the NorCal final. It marked the program's fifth straight Northern California Regional championships. But the Vikings postseason run came to an end at the 3C2A State Championships with consecutive losses.
West Valley wrapped up the season with an impressive 31-5 overall record while Cabrillo went 19-13 this season.
Following the close of the regular season, the Coast Conference announced its 2025 postseason awards and all-conference teams.
West Valley swept the conference's major awards as freshman attacker Makar Salnikov was named the Coast Conference MVP and the Vikings' Willo Rodriguez was tabbed Coach of the Year.
